Parent Helpers
At Barnsbury Primary School & Nursery, we welcome parents to come and help in school, and there are many and varied opportunities across the year which benefit tremendously from your input. Some parents come in regularly at a set time each week, others come when they can. Many of the activities the children currently enjoy would not be possible without this voluntary help.
General help
Parent helpers can assist in the classroom with reading, maths, cooking, walking the children to swimming, gardening and other seasonal activities.
Curriculum Enrichment
Each year we hold special weeks and days which are linked to specific aspects of the curriculum, and we welcome all help offered with this. Details of these events are published in advance and if you wish to volunteer help during one of these, please contact the school office.
School Excursions
When a class goes out on a school trip or visit, we ask for parent helpers to accompany the children. This helps us maintain the correct adult to child ratios.
Special Skills
We invite parents or carers with a specific skill or interest to come and share their knowledge with a class.
If you are interested in becoming a parent helper, please contact the office 01483 763114, we would be required to arrange a DBS on you behalf.
On completion of the DBS process we would arrange the class teacher to contact you to discuss the day/time you may be available. Session times and classes where support is welcomed are flexible, and any offer of help would be most appreciated.
