RE
At Barnsbury Primary School and Nursery we want our children to appreciate the way that religious beliefs shape lives and our behaviour. We aim for our Religious Education curriculum to promote discernment and for our school community to have a greater understanding of, and to value, its diversity.
RE is taught to engage pupils in an enquiry approach where they can develop an understanding and appreciation for the expression of beliefs, cultural practices and traditions. Our Religious Education curriculum is enhanced with visitors from different faiths who come into school to lead assemblies and take part in RE lessons. The children reflect on questions of meaning, offering their own thoughtful and informed insights into religious and secular world-views. In doing this, our children will develop an understanding the world around them, building in their own sense of identity as well as the values of those around them.
